Mark’s interest in music and singing goes right back to his early childhood, when he was first exposed to the sounds of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis and Big Band music.

‘I have a very wide taste in music’ Mark said, ‘my favourite band is Steely Dan. I was brought up to the likes of Marvin Gaye, Stevie Wonder and The Four Tops. But I also like classical music such as Elgar, Barber, Bach, Handel and Faure. But my biggest love is Swing music.’

Mark has sung at numerous charity concerts over the last few years and has always welcomed the opportunity to not only help the various charities involved but to show another side of himself. ‘I just love to sing on stage in front of a big band, it gives me such a rush, and the lyrics such as by Cole Porter, are timeless and are just as relevant today as they were when he first wrote them.’

When Mark performs he has made a number of songs his own, such as ‘Mack the Knife’, ‘Lady is a Tramp’ and ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’.

When Mark was asked if he would prefer to sing instead of acting for a career, he said, ‘No, as much as I love to sing, acting is my livelihood and my passion, it is something that I simply have to do. Mind you, I hope to one day combine the two and do both acting and singing on the stage in the West End - now that would be fantastic!’
